Teacher Writing a Formula on a Blackboar
  • Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness

  • Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.

Reflection:

This standard encourages teachers to fully utilize their knowledge of the subject to promote their students ' learning motivation in a creative and innovative teaching method and inspire students ' creative and innovative abilities. At the same time, this standard emphasizes much on the cultivation of students’ ability in using collaborative tools to promote their reflection and communications with their group members in distance education.

Before I came to America, I have never had experience of online course, which had become a difficulty for me at the beginning of this program. This program has provided me with more opportunities to study in a collaborative environment, for example, the group projects. The weekly discussion board is a standard way for us to collaborate with classmates.

Group Project:

Group work projects can sometimes be challenging, especially for online students. The use of the communication tools helps ensure that the group learning activities do occur appropriately. During the communication tool project in IT 648 class, the five members of our Group Three has each chosen a tool to introduce and as well as experience those tools mutually. The final project paper is our joint accomplishment which is involved in the participation and common modification from all the members.

Blogfolio:

The weekly discussion board is an essential part of the course setting. In each week, we are required to read some chapters of the textbook and answer a few questions and publish the answers on our Blogfolio. At the same time, we need to comment on others’ posts and as well as get comments from other group members. The Blogfolio is a part of the group collaborate work.

Google Slide:

In this project, we are required to create a course material with Google Slide as a part of our final course. We each share the links to our group members and allow them to collaboratively help us edit the slide at the same time and provide suggestive ideas on how to improve it.

Future Learning Goals:

Collaborative learning tools can be perfect to be used in distance education, but it also has troubles. When writing a blog, we tend to use informal language casually. Due to the unguarded of the learning activities, and network security issue, students’ learning behaviors need more specifications. I usually tend to ignore my grammar mistakes and misspelling of words when I write blogs. In the future, I will still insist on writing on blogs, use google doc in my collaborative learning project. While if so, my writing should be more stringent and professional.
